In the shop

Old diesels and new AMGs in the same shop

The range on Mercedes is wider than any other make we service. A 300D that has been in one family since new needs a completely different set of skills from a current AMG with air suspension and a dozen control modules, and we take both. Older diesels are mechanically honest cars and we enjoy keeping them going; the newer ones need equipment and training, which we have.

Air suspension and AIRMATIC

When a Mercedes sags overnight or rides badly, it is usually an air strut, the compressor, a valve block or a leaking line rather than the whole system. Diagnosing which one saves a great deal of money. We test the system properly instead of quoting a full replacement, and we will tell you if converting to conventional springs makes more sense on an older car.

Timing chains, balance shafts and cooling

Some Mercedes V6 and V8 engines have known timing component wear, and catching it early is the difference between a service and an engine. Cooling systems age the way they do on all German cars: plastic housings get brittle, water pumps weep, and a small leak becomes a warped head if ignored. We check the whole circuit when a car comes in for anything cooling-related.

Electrical diagnostics and modules

Modern Mercedes electrical faults tend to cascade — one failing module throws codes across the car. We read the whole network rather than chasing the first code, which is how you avoid replacing three parts to fix one problem.

Sprinter vans

Sprinters are working vehicles and downtime costs money, so we try to schedule them tightly and get them back out. Routine diesel service, brakes, suspension under load, and diagnostics on the emissions systems that give these vans trouble.

Common questions

Do you service classic Mercedes diesels?

Yes. Older diesel sedans and wagons are welcome, and we are set up for the mechanical work they need rather than treating them as too old to bother with.

Is there Mercedes repair near me on the east side of Portland?

We are at 15570 SE Stark Street, on the Portland–Gresham line, and we see Mercedes customers from across the metro including Clackamas, Happy Valley, Milwaukie and Troutdale.

My car is sagging overnight. Is that the whole air suspension?

Usually not. It is more often a single air strut, a valve block or the compressor. We test to find which, then quote only that.

Do you work on Sprinter vans?

Yes, including diesel service, brakes and emissions-system diagnostics. Tell us your schedule when you book and we will try to keep the van off the road for as little time as possible.
